New JFn'K track on the 50th Anniversary of the JFK Assassination

Greetings Commrades,

On this 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy we want to announce officially that a new track from CDCC artists JFn'K has been released on a compilation of songs about Kennedy's assassination. Conspiracy A-Go-Go is the first offering from Turn Me On Dead Man Recordings, which grew out of a blog detailing conspiracy driven rock and roll. Those of you familiar with the JFn'K live show will recognize JFn'K's "Back And To The Left" coming in at track 16 on the record. Check it out over at http://turnmeondeadman.bandcamp.com/album/conspiracy-a-go-go and Read the blog over here: http://turnmeondeadman.com

In other CDCC news there are two big DandyLyon Whine shows coming up in the next two weeks! First off is the second annual DEAD LETTER OFFICE Showcase concert at PJ's Lagerhouse. This will take place on Nov. 30th and feature 4 great bands (Pthalo Sky, Turtle Island, Odd Hours, and ourselves) as well as 3 great singer/songwriters (Mike Anton, Ian Pinchback, and Spoo Willoughby). It all starts at 8:30 and goes all night long. The show is $5, but you get $1 off for every 2 food items you bring for donation. 10 food items = free ticket.  You want to be here, we will be debuting two new songs at this show! Here is a link to the Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/216441471856379/

The other show is the following Wednesday (Dec. 4th)  for December's DUENSDAY! at Ferndale's Loving Touch. We are extremely excite to be on this show, they are always a party and we're working up a set that reflects that. Rock out this mid-week show with us!

Greetings Commrades,

It's been a while since I've reached out and it's time for an update.

First off DON'T PANIC! Come celebrate Towel Day with CDCC on May 24th at the New Dodge Lounge. Ok, Towel Day is actually May 25th, but the clock is going to strike midnight while we're there so we're going to celebrate anyway. Opening the night are our good friends Aufera and Pthalo Sky with a headlining performance by DandyLyon Whine. Cover is $5. You need to be there!

Speaking of DandyLyon Whine, if you haven't seen them you should know that they are working all sorts of new material into their set. Check out the current crowd favorite, filmed at Axis Mundi Fest II, last month.

And finally, we recently renewed our licenses on Spotify, iTunes, and Amazon. We figured that we'd take a moment to remind you that whatever service you use to listen to music we are there, be it Spotify, iTunes, Youtube, Bandcamp, or others. If we don't show up on the service you use please let us know. We want to be there!

As always, thank you for supporting us. We wouldn't exist if it weren't for you.

Greetings Commrades,

I'm pretty late on this one, being as the show I'm talking about is tonight, but I'd be remiss if I didn't let you know about THE BIGGEST SHOW IN DETROIT HISTORY!  That's right, it's time for AXIS MUNDI FEST 2013!
Tonight CDCC new blood The Dirty Tongues are opening up the festival (being held at Northend Studios) tonight at 8:30. A whole array of the best acts in Detroit follow up. In addition to that, there will be spoken word, comedy, and a visual art gallery as well.

DandyLyon Whine will be rockin' it out tomorrow night (Saturday) at 12:15. They are straight off a recording session and have a new tune to debut so we hope to see you all there.
Also, please help us live tweet the event with the tag #axismundifest. We really want to get some good pics of the show and all of you enjoying the festival.

The festival will be held at NorthEnd Studios, 5101 Loraine in Detroit. Here is the official press release with the whole line up and details.

Thanks and Can't wait to see you there!

For Immediate Release:
On April 12th and 13th at North End Studios, Axis Mundi Fest 2013 will be taking place. This is a collaborative effort featuring 15 musical acts, 12 visual artists, and 5 verbal artists (spoken, comedy, or otherwise). The Axis Mundi Collective are 5 DIY music labels and a small handful of other artists and musicians, with plenty of overlap amongst them, in the midst of a conversation about how to get our ideas out into the universe. This is not a tight-knit group with a world-changing manifesto, just a bunch of friends & friends of friends trying to find out places in the world, asking each other for some help. Some of us are here for success, some redemption, some because this is just the kind of thing we do, and some because someone asked us to be here. All we can do is be ourselves and use that to better ourselves. We communicate & collaborate because that is the only way we can get where we need to be.

We've put together this event as a way to connect some of the people we know who don’t know each other, and try and connect with other people. There are many aspects to being an active musician, artist, or any other creative effort. When you start working on those, you continuously find things you don’t know how to do, and you can usually find someone else that does. Working together helps us understand all the aspects of functioning in world without a instruction booklet. What we share with each other makes us stronger as individuals and as a community. We invite you to come along and take part, make a joyous noise and remember what it feels like to experience something that you haven’t before.

CDCC Year In Review

Greetings Comrades!,

Thank you for supporting us over the last year. CDCC would not exist if not for you. Let's look back at what we've accomplished over the last 365 days.

February gave us two major releases for the Communist Day Care Center. The first of which came on February 11th with Dinosaur Monster's The Giraffe EP. Finally the fan favorite "Mind Of A Mystic Man" was made available, albeit only to the lucky 42 that picked up the limited edition physical release. The EP is still available for streaming on YouTube and Spotify

Spotify: Dinosaur Monster - The Giraffe EP

Just one week later DandyLyon Whine released their second full-length album Coelacanth. This epic album was made even better by the creation of a video for each song on the album.

Also available to watch on YouTube is the album release show live at The New Dodge Lounge in Hamtramck, February 18th, 2012.

In April, the CDCC Recording Studio completed it's first major recording project for a non label band. An EP and an LP from the recording sessions will be released from St. Zita sometime in 2013. Check out this small snippet:

On July 16th, JFn'K released their tribute to the automobile with their covers of songs titled "I'm In Love With My Car" by Queen and Mike Ness. The songs were released on Matchbox Car flash drives and included their previous EP and many extras as well. Detroit music journalist Jeff Milo had this to say: http://ferndale.patch.com/articles/milo-s-trip-johnny-headband-j-fn-k-street-culture-mash

Labor Day weekend, an important holiday for DandyLyon Whine had them playing at PJ's Lagerhouse to an empty room. Due to the miracle of the internet, you need not miss out on this great show.

October gave us the opportunity for the First Annual CDCC Halloween SPEC-TACULAR! The amazing lineup included Jeff Tweedy, R.E.M., Hole, and Neil Young & Crazy Horse! Well, it was Jeremy Otto, Chronic Town, Grind Scheme, and DandyLyon Whine performing as those bands. DandyLyon Whine has released their show, titled Trust Never Sleeps

To round out the year DandyLyon Whine was honored to perform for the Ferndale Public Library's First Stop Friday series.

Jeremy of DandyLyon Whine quietly did a cover the only Christmas song he can stand, John McCutcheon's "Detroit, December," and released it for streaming on YouTube. It was also featured on the third tape from Dead Letter Office's cassette club

Thanks once again for hanging with us through another year. What will 2013 yield for the CDCC? We're nearing a definite timeline for the next DandyLyon Whine album. We're hoping it will be out in six months, but it could be closer to a year. We're hoping to get the first from The Dirty Tongues, as well as The Silver Shamrocks, and a few other artists we've been talking to. With hope, this year will also yield the first vinyl pressing to come out of CDCC. Know that we will continue to strive to bring you the best music we can throughout next year and onward.
